Merri Davis, MA, MS, Ph.D. Candidate
Ms. Davis is the founder and Executive Director of the non-profit Center for Well-Being and Resilience; co-founder of SENTEL Corporation, a government contracting firm headquartered in Alexandria, VA; and currently a Ph.D. Candidate at George Mason University’s School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution. After the sale of SENTEL in 2004, Ms. Davis began focusing on community resilience and social justice issues. Serving as an ordained minister for six years in Woodbridge and Danville, Virginia, Ms. Davis currently provides counseling to individuals and groups recovering from substance abuse and trauma following experiences of violence including childhood sexual assault (CSA), imprisonment, political torture and domestic abuse. Ms. Davis is scheduled to defend her dissertation proposal, “The Interplay of Trauma and Violence in Social Conflict Surrounding Historic Interpretations of Confederate Symbols and Memorials” on March 19, 2018.
