For the last thirty years, Flora Wiegers has offered her expertise in Training, Instructional Design, Facilitation, Organizational Development and Diversity to a wide variety of clients throughout the United States. She has worked with clients in both public and private sector, including health care, education, law enforcement and municipal business settings.
In her current role as Manager of Organizational Development and Diversity for County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works, Flora oversees the department’s Diversity Initiative titled “Values Management” designed to increase productivity and employee satisfaction, enhance employee competencies and help create an inclusive and healthy work environment. Flora also consults with the department’s Strategic Planning Group helping all teams implement the department’s strategic goals and objectives in addition to leading the department’s Values Management strategic goal.
In 2002, Flora joined the County of Los Angeles as a Deputy Compliance Officer with the Office of Affirmative Action Compliance, Diversity and Programs Section. In this capacity Flora gained the opportunity to develop curriculum for all mandated training programs, train a large cadre of external consultants, and offer technical assistance and customized interventions to all County Departments dealing with Diversity, Human Relations and EEO related issues.
Prior to joining the County of Los Angeles, Flora was an independent consultant with expertise in Training and Organizational Development, Conflict Resolution, Diversity, Cross-Cultural and Human Relations issues. She is a senior national trainer for “A World Of Difference Institute”, a diversity and human relations training program and has been an acting director of the Institute’s Southern California Project, one of the largest teacher training programs in the State. As a training consultant Ms. Wiegers has delivered numerous programs designed to improve employee morale and productivity, help create an inclusive work environment and build cross-cultural communication skills.
Ms. Wiegers graduated Cum Laude from Boston University and was awarded a full scholarship to teach and counsel students from all over the world at the University of Southern California. Flora is a life-long learner. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California in International and Intercultural Education and a second Master’s degree in counseling, with specialization in School Psychology from Cal State Los Angeles. Ms. Wiegers utilizes the most recent theories in brain based learning and teaching in order to develop effective initiatives and interventions for her clients. She is a certified instructor for Achieve Global, and holds a graduate certificate in Intergroup Relations Training from Loyola Marymount University.
